Hue

Hue Citadel
Hue Citadel is a majestic symbol of the Nguyen Dynasty – the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam, built more than 200 years ago. This is the most massive construction in Vietnamese history, hundreds of palaces, temples, and shrines were completed after more than 30 years. Every Saturday, Royal Palace Night will be held, authentically recreating the unique cultural and artistic activities of the ancient royal court. Besides, Hue Festival also takes place periodically, every two years with many attractive activities. Through many years of ups and downs, the relic still retains its artistic architectural values and has become the pride of the people of the ancient capital of Hue.
An Dinh Palace
This project is located right on the bank of An Cuu River. An Dinh Palace was built in 1917, this is a unique construction associated with many kings of the late Nguyen Dynasty such as King Khai Dinh, King Bao Dai, Queen Nam Phuong and Prince Bao Long. An Dinh Palace can be considered an architectural construction that opened the fine arts period in Hue, the interference between two Asian and European cultures in the early 20th century. Most of the decorative details are such as four quarters, four quarters. The statues, bowls and columns are designed in Roman style… all with a luxurious and sophisticated European feel.
Minh Mang Tomb
Minh Mang Tomb is the place to worship the second king of the Nguyen Dynasty. He made great contributions to the nation and was considered an outstanding person among the kings of the Nguyen Dynasty. The mausoleum’s designs were approved by King Minh Mang himself and completed by King Thieu Tri. The grounds of the mausoleum are large, located on Cam Khe mountain, where the Huu Trach and Ta Trach streams meet to form the Perfume River. The architectural works include 40 large and small structures located on the main vertical axis through the center of the mausoleum, exuding the strictness and determination of the talented king. Minh Mang Tomb is not too magnificent, but it is the most standard mausoleum among the mausoleums of that time, heavily influenced by Confucianism. Visiting Minh Mang tomb, visitors can feel the beauty of harmony between people and heaven and earth and the balance and gentleness of life.
Tu Duc Tomb
Tu Duc Tomb, also known as Khiem Lang, is the resting place of the fourth king of the Nguyen Dynasty. With exquisite architecture, located in the middle of charming mountains, it shows the poet’s soul of a profound and learned king. The mausoleum was built by the king to have a place to rest, escape from court affairs and prevent his death. The mausoleum’s architecture consists of two parts: the palace and the mausoleum, arranged in parallel. The scenery here has ancient colors with many bridges spanning the lake, green pine trees whispering in the wind and the gentle scent of field flowers. Tu Duc Tomb clearly reveals the personality of the king, full of power but no less elegant and romantic.
Khai Dinh Tomb
Khai Dinh Tomb is the last architectural work under the Nguyen Dynasty. The construction period of the mausoleum lasted for 2 kings. Although the campus is the smallest, it is the mausoleum with the most expensive construction budget. The mausoleum’s luxury is reflected in each intricately carved line, a harmonious combination of East and West cultures. Materials for building the mausoleum are modern materials such as iron, cement, Ardoise tiles,… imported from France. Furniture and decorative items are carefully selected from many places. Visitors coming here will be amazed when admiring the details decorated with eye-catching porcelain glass mosaics.
Thien Mu Pagoda
Thien Mu Pagoda has long been associated with the symbol of dreamy Hue. The temple was founded in 1601 and is one of the oldest temples in the ancient capital. Entering the pagoda, we will immediately see the Phuoc Duyen tower consisting of 7 floors with a spiral staircase inside, each floor of the tower has a Buddha statue. The pagoda has unique architectural works such as Dai Hung Palace, Dai Tang Palace, Guan Yin Palace,… and precious antiques such as the Dharma Protector statue, Maitreya Buddha statue,… or horizontal panels and verses. They mark the golden historical milestones of the pagoda. The sacred pagoda is located on the banks of the Perfume River and the ringing bell of Thien Mu Pagoda has been included in countless poems and music of the people of Hue for generations.
Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda
Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda is located deep in the valley surrounded by mountains and pine hills, a magical landscape like in a fairy tale. The pagoda belongs to the Theravada sect and was built in 1989. From a pristine forest and mountain area, this place has now become a paradise on earth. The pagoda has two areas: the outer courtyard and the inner courtyard, the outer courtyard is for regular worship and the inner courtyard is reserved entirely for meditation. The temple’s architecture is simple but the design is delicate and meticulous in harmony with nature, creating a majestic and peaceful beauty. An Hien garden house
An Hien garden house is a garden house more than 120 years old, the oldest garden house in Hue. The house’s architecture combines both the ancient features typical of the ancient capital and exudes aristocracy. The 4608m2 building complex faces the Perfume River, its layout and design are influenced by feng shui. Today, An Hien garden house is open to visitors and does not collect tickets. Money for maintenance and repair comes from donations from guests, and this place attracts the most visitors on holidays.
Dong Ba Market
Dong Ba Market is a large and long-standing market, which converges to the quintessential Hue. The market consists of a three-story building in the center called the “bell tower”. The 3rd floor is the space for clothes and fabrics. The second floor is where souvenirs and crafts are sold. And on the first floor dried products and local specialties are sold. Just take a stroll around the market and you can fully experience the flavors of Hue and receive meaningful gifts to take home.
Thanh Toan bridge
Thanh Toan bridge is one of the few ancient architectures designed in the “upper family, lower country” style remaining in Vietnam. The purpose of building the bridge is to help people in the village have a place to stop, get some fresh air, and chat besides the hardships of making a living. Today, this bridge with unique architecture still retains its very own appeal, the overall design resembles a house with seven rooms supported by a sturdy pillar system. In the middle of the bridge there is an altar to commemorate the people who built the bridge and each side of the three compartments has high platforms like furniture in a house. Over more than 200 years of history, Thanh Toan Bridge has become an indispensable part in the daily life of the people of Thanh Thuy village and brings enormous spiritual values.
